Saints Swimming Club
For over 50 years St Augustine's swimming club and pool have helped create numerous champion swimmers. Among those who have represented Australia include Julie Majer, Zoe Tonks and Chris Wright.
The College’s swimming program takes children from beginners and learning to swim to national-level competition. All our coaches and instructors hold Swim Australia qualifications and they train many Saints students to become equally qualified instructors. They, in turn, have youth, energy and enthusiasm for teaching in a safe, friendly environment.
The competitive program targets the goals of the swimmer, whether wishing to compete regionally, or at state or national level. Our state and national training squads have up to nine sessions available which incorporate training in our excellent gym. Saints has recently produced many state and national medallists, with some swimmers invited to high-performance camps in Queensland.
With a heated pool, our programs operate year-round. We start preschool-age children in learn to swim to teach them water safety skills and excellent technique. Our fitness squads, Surf-Tri-Fit and Bull Sharks teach secondary students to improve freestyle technique, speed and stamina.
St Augustine's students use the pool during physical education classes and sport, and those from various primary schools take part in our learn to swim programs.
For further information on swimming lessons or hire of the pool go to Saints Swimming or contact Kirk Donaldson 0408 512 040
SAINTS GYM
The St Augustine's gym, housed in the swimming complex, has long been popular. It provides a fully equipped weights room with a separate cardio/stretch room and modern digital equipment allowing students to use the latest training techniques and equipment. All training is supervised by our qualified sports staff. The gym is used during physical education classes, and students completing their Certificate III in Fitness conduct many personal training sessions with clients as part of their school-based studies.
