Health & Wellbeing Centre
St Augustine’s supports the physical and emotional health of students, staff and boarders in our Health and Wellbeing Centre (HWC). It includes a well-appointed clinic, incorporating nursing and counselling.
The centre’s nurses and counsellors work together as a healthcare team. A welcoming and inclusive environment, the HWC is a part of the College’s initiatives to promote the physical, emotional and spiritual health of students and staff. The centre includes a three-bed and a six-bed infirmary, a separate isolation room, and is well equipped to manage the College’s healthcare needs.
A registered nurse (RN) is available Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 3:45pm. Boarding supervisors provide first aid as required after hours. The RN works in close collaboration with counsellors to provide holistic care for students and staff. A GP visits once a week for boarders’ medical needs, and we maintain a close relationship with a local medical practice to enable continuity of care for boarders.
Saints’ two counsellors have a diverse set of therapeutic skills and deep experience working with adolescents. Additionally, they have professional links with external mental health providers when a referral to external specialists is advisable.
Our holistic approach to healthcare has helped to create a family atmosphere for all involved, especially our boarding families, and a peaceful place where caregivers offer a healing hand and a listening ear to all in the College community.
