Girls Boarding

St Augustine's offers full-time and weekly boarding to students of St Monica’s College. The girls boarding program is a popular and distinctive feature of college life.

While girls are educated at St Monica's, their boarding program is the responsibility of St Augustine's. They live in separate accommodation, Chavoin Residence, in the care of live-in female staff. Girls and boys gather for meals and organised recreation and other activities, and follow a similar evening and weekend schedule. The girls have access to the College’s extensive facilities such as the student resource centre, the music centre, gym and swimming pool.

To board with us, girls need to meet both schools’ enrolment criteria and be accepted by each principal as a boarder.

Why Girls Boarding?

The program has been developed as a response to families at both colleges. They have told us they are interested in the following:

  • The attraction and convenience of having their sons and daughters in the same area for boarding
  • The benefits of education in a city school: wide curriculum choice, well-developed co-curricular offerings and extra facilities
  • The broadening of horizons and opening of opportunities that a small country town cannot provide
  • Single-gender schooling
