Play Chess at Saints and become a Black Knight
Around three million people play chess regularly in Australia, and recently the number of young people playing has grown with the introduction of chess clubs in schools.
Members of the Black Knights Society hone their chess skills during Wednesday sport by competing among themselves and against other schools. Saints has achieved great results in regional qualifying series and in Queensland state chess championships.
While the game has numerous educational benefits, such as improving analytical thinking skills and memory, it’s also a great confidence builder and teaches patience and persistence. It’s a sport everyone can participate in as it caters for a wide variety of skill levels and ages.
New members of the Black Knights Society are welcome, and newcomers are invited to bring along friends. There’s no horsing around but we guarantee you won’t get bored!
